Install and Setup
The easiest step in the technology decision is buying the part. After ensuring it is a quality product with a good warranty from a reputable manufacturer then comes the install and setup. This is usually the most important step, not necessarily because it is difficult, but because you want to ensure setup follows technology standards and standards for your business. Ensuring the compliance to a company wide standard, set according to technology standards, helps to reduce errors and the time required to troubleshoot errors or issues. This is true for both hardware and software. Documenting these standards, for future reference, should be a standard practice. Lion Business can document all the services provided and products installed, if requested.

Diagnostics and Repair
Diagnosis and repair of hardware or software can be quite tricky and time consuming. In many cases, it is difficult to assign a particular problem to a specific technology. Establishing and following company wide standards make it possible to make system comparisons. However, in the absence of standards, comparisons to non-alike systems can be very misleading.

Purchasing
In most instances, I recommend my clients purchase from one of the “big” manufacturers. Why? They usually provide the best prices, offer 24-hour customer service, and are quite good at quickly replacing faulty products. However, there are times when buying from local vendors makes much more sense. The technology and the situation should determine that choice.

Regardless, I highly recommend you decide what features and services are important to you, your company, and your industry before making your decision on which manufacturer to purchase from.
